At the beginning of this year, I made the wrong assumption of believing it would be easy to put together a list of contacts of whom I wanted to reach out to. I had no idea how entirely wrong I would be. With the many hours spent typing out emails, the days where I spent waiting for a response, and the rest of the year that will be spent in utilizing this contact list as well. As I progressed with the creation of my contact list, I realized that it was a substantially more complicated task than I'd imagined. These contacts aren't just random names that I could benefit from, but rather there are specific reasons for wanting to connect them. As compared to that of these professional’s times, it is acknowledged that helping a high school student may seem trivial compared to their day-to-day occupations. Thus, this created a bubble of worry that resulted in me not getting responses in time, and even if they were to be answered, getting rejected by them as well. Although this was a significant obstacle hindering me from my end goal, I was able to overcome it by understanding that if I was not to get a response it was not because of something I had done, but more of my professional ability to understand these specialists’ time-frames and their overall schedules as well. Despite this being a struggle, I was able to successfully manage to get some out-of-state interviews to be scheduled for this week. I am preparing a thorough interview question list which prepares me for questions I could want to ask during the interview, and by preparing myself for a variety of circumstances, there may be experiences granted to me that were bigger than I have ever imagined.
